Like the title, where HAVEN'T I been in the past month? Wow. Here's why I haven't been posting lately (excuses, excuses):
  • Saw my QUEEN (well, one of my queens): St Vincent in concert
  • Spoke and attended GLSEN's Respect Awards in NYC! 300+ attendees for to take home my artwork commissioned from me by GLSEN as well... Raven Symone and Glee's Matthew Morrison were among these folks! (Many selfies were taken. Check my instagram- caseycreates)

  • Selected as a Point Foundation Scholar! (After a long process of essays, interviewing in LA, and poster making)- pointfoundation.org/scholars/s…
  • Finished high school & finals a week early (!!!)
  • Went on a Disney Cruise to St. Maarten, St. Thomas, & Disney's Castaway Key from Port Canaveral with my family (Also went to the Kennedy Space Center) (Also met, was motivated by, and networked with a Walt Disney Imagineer!!)
  • Added daily running to my activities
  • Started working at a local ice cream and dessert shop to make some money before college. (I make monthly signs there as well. Art in the real world!)
  • Currently designing my own website for speaking/activism/arts endeavors
  • Currently writing blogs and researching/ applying for my next "Art & Identity" workshop engagement (not sure when that will be at the moment)
ALSO: I can get married in my future! GO SCOTUS!!!
Have a great week everyone! Hope to upload some new things soon!

Life at 18

2 min read
Hi everyone! It's been quite a while since my last updates. I'm just busy as always. I moved rooms in preparation for moving out this Fall and have been winding down on certain projects at school. So art's been kind of low on the priority list these days. As well as that, I've given my "Art & Identity" lecture/workshop at another LGBTQ+ convention and have been working tirelessly on presentations for my interviews later this week in Los Angeles as a scholar finalist for The Point Foundation! This opportunity would allow me to have a 4 year scholarship, mentor, and travel/speaking/activism opportunities for my work with the LGBTQ+ communities! So, I'm just finishing everything up for now. If I get this opportunity, I'll be sure to post my presentation poster to show what I've been up to! So, with that-- I'll update hopefully with more art after I get settled again after being in Los Angeles. (It's across the country for me. Time change is a killer.)
Have a great week!
PS: Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes! I'm now an adult! (Sure doesn't feel like it at times)

Hi all, it's been a while! First off, I opened a shop on etsy with a couple pieces. I'll be updating throughout the year: www.etsy.com/shop/artofcaseyho….

Other than that, I'm waiting on a few scholarships and programs and working on a ton of graphic design projects for different organizations and projects I work with. (Hence, less art this month) But I should be starting on a few things this week. It's getting warmer outside too, so I'm more apt to sketch outside.

Have a good week, everyone!

Hi everyone, so uhh... I'm pleased to announce that I'm enrolled in college! I'll be studying for a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture at California Polytechnic Institute of Pomona's College of Environmental Design! The news came much earlier than expected and I've been ecstatic ever since. So, I guess I'll be packing my bags in September. I can't believe I'm going so far away for college, but it's for the best as I'll be close to Disneyland for internship opportunities and networking! Plus, the area is just beautiful and vibrant on its own. And the weather? I can't stand anything under 40, so I'm thrilled with my decision. For now, I'll dream about it and sign off on my housing and enrollment forms. Also, I'm a semi-finalist for the Point Foundation scholars program for LGBTQ+ students. I'm so honored to have been selected for these opportunities. Things are happening so fast!

Back to the now, I've had the entire week off of school due to a snow-storm and record low temperatures. And I've been surprisingly unproductive with this time. I've got a lot to do before my March senior show and will be going to Chicago next week for a field trip, so I better get some progress out soon. (Plus, not long until AP portfolios are due) So, we'll see what happens after some work.

With a load of worry off my back (college admissions processes are rough), I wish you all a good and hopefully warm weekend! (It's been -20 here at night!)

Hello all, as always I've been busy in preparing for scholarships, college, and my senior art show. Among that, I've finished a lot of works and have been doing all sorts of other activities. The big news in the past few weeks is that I've received 2 honorable mentions from the regional Scholastic Art and Writing awards and have been published by the Huffington Post on an article I wrote about transgender policy issues in the state of Kentucky. (Read up here!: www.huffingtonpost.com/casey-h… bathrooms_b_6510862.html). What else, just school in general. No college or scholarship acceptances as of yet, but fingers crossed for March!
I'll be posting some art and hopefully getting a chance to respond to a lot of messages and kind comments I've received lately this weekend. Have a great week, everyone!
